  • Present - Escondido Tamale Festival -Community Festival 100 vendors

  • Present - For the Love of Chocolate - Escondido Chocolate Festival 350 Attendees

  • Present - Esco Art Alley - Alley Art Free Exhibit

  • Present - 2nd Saturday Art Walk and Pop-up Art Vendors

  • Past - Wedge - Escondido Cheese Festival

  • Past - Escondido Farmers Market - Weekly

ADVOCACY

  • Continuing - For sidewalk dining, pedestrian safety & beautification

  • Continuing - To allow urban residential zoning in the downtown

  • Continuing - To protect and expand Grape Day Park

  • Continuing - To city to ease restrictions on microbreweries and alcohol ­serving businesses/hours

  • Continuing - To city to ease restrictions parking requirements for Grand businesses

  • Past - To change zoning around park to allow more retail/office/residential use


DOWNTOWN ACCESS

  • Past - Successful lobbying to re­open Grand Ave west to allow access to downtown from freeway

IMPROVEMENTS

  • Present- Grand Avenue Vision (street renovation project) in collaboration with City

  • Recent - Flowers on medians all along Grand Avenue

  • Recent - Palm Tree Up-light Project all along Grand Avenue

  • Recent  - Additional/upgraded trash containers in the downtown

  • Past - Creation of historic storefront visitor center from former blighted building 

  • Past - Pocket park on Pennsylvania replacing blighted lot


BANNERS & FLAGS

  • Continuing - Seasonal and Hometown Heroes (Veterans) Street Banners

  • Continuing - American Flags on Grand on major holidays​

  • Present - Additional downtown lighting on streets and in alleys

The DBA listens to and works with members, city staff and police to stay abreast of urban trends, improve security, beautification, business and economic issues, and follows guidelines for successful National Main Street program for healthy historic downtown districts.
