Committees

Executive Committee

Comprised of President, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Secretary of the Board of Directors, the immediate past president, and the Chief Executive Officer (non-voting position). The Executive Committee researches and reviews items to be discussed by the Board at the upcoming meetings, as well as makes recommendations to the Board regarding specific agenda items.

Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at the DBA office.


Events Committee

Comprised of member-businesses, representatives from BID non-profit/visitor-oriented businesses (e.g., the Escondido Historical Society), representatives from the North County Times, and interested community volunteers. Work to support the monthly DBA meetings; volunteer at the twice-a-year Escondido Street Faire; The Art of Food and Wine—A Taste of Downtown Escondido; plan and staff the DBA's Annual Meeting, makes recommendations to the Board regarding expenditures of DBA funds or communications with the City. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 8:30 a.m. at the DBA office.


2nd Saturday Committee

This committee is comprised of Executive Directors of local galleries, Gallery owners, and other art enthusiasts in the community. These volunteers work to bring events to the 2nd Saturday Art Walk along with planning themes and rallying the arts community in Downtown Escondido together to showcase works every 2nd Saturday of the month. New members are welcome! Please contact Danielle Aeling at daeling@downtownescondido.com.

Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9:00 a.m. at various locations.


Cruisin' Grand Committee

The Cruisin' Grand Core Committee and Advisory Committee members help plan the Cruisin' Grand season, make recommendations to the DBA Board of Directors on event policy and expenses, and assist the staff in finding sponsors and volunteering at the event. Some members are at the Cruise every night, donating their time to make the cruise runs smoothly.

The Committee meets approximately once a month for the six months prior to the event. Then, they meet as needed to address new ideas.


Design Review Committee

The Design Advisory Committee's purpose is to advise, support and advocate for business members and developers whose projects are moving through the permitting and design process in the City of Escondido. It is hoped that through thoughtful design discussion with the design professional volunteer members of the Committee, proposed plans will achieve the visual and/or economic impact desired, as well as contributing to a sense of place and visual interest in the downtown.

The Design Advisory Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month, at 8:00 a.m., to review projects in process.


Marketing Committee

Comprised of the chairs of each of the DBA Committees. Share current marketing needs of the DBA and Committees and work together to accomplish those goals efficiently and economically. Makes recommendations to the Board regarding expenditure of DBA funds or communications with the City.

Meetings are held the third Friday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at the DBA office.


Economic Development Committee

Economic Development is part of the National Main Street four-point approach program for Downtown Revitalization. The DBA will be working with the City of Escondido on retention and expansion programs for the downtown. One-on-one visits with Downtown business owners will be arranged with the DBA and City of Escondido. This purpose of these meetings is to listen to their concerns, ideas and any information that they may have that will lead to a stronger economic downtown.
