Welcome to Downtown Escondido!

We are very excited to have you join us here in the historic district of Escondido. Most of us on the DBA Board are also current business owners or have owned businesses so we certainly understand what it takes to open a new business. We applaud you and thank you.

History of the DBA
The DBA was started in 1962 by some community minded downtown business owners. It was developed so that business owners could get to know their fellow entrepreneurs and business neighbors, to speak as an advocate for the businesses, and to market and promote the downtown area of Escondido. It was also started to be an advocate for businesses with the city, the fire department and the police department.

Downtown Events
One of the ways in which the DBA promotes the downtown is by developing events or assisting in the development and running of events. We encourage you to participate in some of the events if you can. We will notify you of events that we know of that will be happening downtown.

Here are the current events that we either put on ourselves or assist with:
  • The Escondido Street Faire – 27 years
  • For The Love of Chocolate / Chocolate Festival – 4 years
  • The Wedge – 4 years
  • Tamale Festival – new for 2015 to be held in November
  •  We have also helped develop or assisted with other events such as:
  • The Farmers Market (still going on)
  • Cruisin Grand (still going on)
  • Jingle Bell Cruise
  • Taste of Downtown
  • Tour de Fork
  • Fashion Week
  • First Night Escondido

Monthly Meetings
We invite you to join us at our monthly Merchant Meetings. They are held on the second Thursday of every month at 8:30 at a Grand Avenue restaurant or business. We will notify you via email about the date and time of the meetings.  Please make sure we have your email address.  It is a great opportunity to meet and get to KNOW your neighbors.  We discuss various issues that affect our businesses and the downtown area. Often, city representatives sit in and update us on city planning that might affect the downtown.  This is a good opportunity to ask direct questions of the city staff, who are prompt with getting answers back to us.

The Board of Directors of the DBA have monthly board meetings that are held on the third Wednesday of every month.

Board Members
The Board of Directors consists of volunteer Downtown business and property owners/members who volunteer for the position because of their passion for Downtown.  Board members are asked to sit on at least one eDBA committee and to volunteer at DBA events on behalf of the Escondido Downtown Business Association and your neighbor businesses.
